So it's natural to wonder why, despite its success as a game, it hasn't released a new version in recent years. Rockstar Games has, of course, updated GTA V, but that's certainly not enough.
Since 2013, when GTA V was released for the first time, Rockstar Games has changed the way it creates games. Now it creates fewer games, but they are more ambitious. As a result, it takes more time to develop a game compared to the past, a fact that may also explain why no new version of GTA V has been released.
However, according to a leak, a new addition to the GTA series will be released quite soon, specifically around Christmas time.
Additionally, according to an anonymous European developer, Sony has invested a fairly substantial sum in Take-Two Interactive to secure a one-month exclusivity period for the PS5, meaning the next Xbox won't get the game until that time has passed.
Of course, all this information should not be taken as certain, since it comes from an anonymous leak and appears the least credible. Initially, it contradicts a previous rumor suggesting that the game would be released around 2022. Secondly, Rockstar Games just released Red Dead Redemption 2 last October, which means it is incredibly unlikely that they could develop and release a new GTA. Moreover, the idea that Take-Two Interactive would give Sony a one-month exclusivity for a bit more money, risking upsetting Xbox users, is a bit far-fetched.
As with any rumor, there is a possibility that some or all of this information is correct. However, it is more likely that the scenario, none of the above is true in reality.
