Larry Hryb announced that four games have been added to the Xbox One that are backwards compatible. The first three are all part of the Lost Planet series, while the fourth is a Resident Evil game.
All three games in the Lost Planet series – Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Lost Planet 2 and Lost Planet 3 – are now backwards compatible, as is the gold edition of the first game, Lost Planet: Colonies. Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, an expanded edition originally released on the Dreamcast, is also now backwards compatible.
Published by Capcom, the Lost Planet franchise consists of a series of shooters that follow the struggles of various protagonists living on a planet in the middle of a frozen age. The gameplay focuses primarily on survival in the harsh environment, as well as battles with alien creatures or soldiers for control of the planet. From the moment it was first released in 2007, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition made a great impression on us - it was called "a perfect action game because it focuses on intense, exciting battles". However, there was not the same enthusiasm for Lost Planet 2 or its sequel, as 2 was criticized for its "disorganized, tedious, or downright frustrating missions" and the sequel for struggling to maintain the identity of the series.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X Edition continues the survival series, following the story of Chris and Claire Redfield. In his Resident Evil Code: Veronica X review, Joe Fielder rated the game a 9/10, praising its graphics and soundtrack, while also complimenting the story.
To play any of these four games on Xbox One, you'll need to own the corresponding physical Xbox 360 copy or purchase their digital versions from the Xbox Live marketplace.
