In the world of investment, things are not always so easy. And some projects, which initially seem very promising, end up failing when their investors and supporters decide to abandon them. This is what happened with the Moto Mod, which never managed to see the "light of day". The small start-up company Livermorium, which ultimately failed to release the long-awaited slider QWERTY Moto Mod, has now decided to launch another slider-phone.
This probably won't be news to anyone who's been following the Moto Mods story since last year. Livermorium promised to make its own phone with a built-in slider, but it said it would release it in late 2018, a date that has now passed.
But believe it or not, there's still hope. Livermorium, now called "F(x) Technology," has just shared some details about its upcoming slider phone. As for the hardware, many of the details are still unknown, but the company does reveal that it will use a bezel-less 6-inch display with no notch.
As for the slider, it will use a mechanism that will angle the screen when opened. The keys will be designed to make it easier to type with your thumb, with the letters more or less centered in the middle and a Ctrl key on either side. The keys will also be backlit, so typing in low-light conditions won't be a problem.
F(x) Technology seems to be taking a similar approach to Planet Computing and its Gemini PDA, aiming for compatibility with both Android and Jolla's Sailfish OS. Lineage OS, the successor to the popular CyanogenMod ROM, aims to bring the vanilla Android experience to the device. The release has now been pushed to the first quarter of 2019, giving the company just over two months to wrap up its work and present an attractive package.
