Windows 10: How to fix browsing error in Microsoft Edge

The latest update released by Microsoft for Windows 10 brought an issue that occurs when someone tries to load local web pages in Microsoft Edge. It should be noted that the error is not only found in the update KB4480116 but also in KB4480976, KB4480967 and KB4480959.

Windows 10

Specifically, after installing the KB4480973 update on Windows 10, some users reported that while using a local IP address, they are unable to load a webpage in Microsoft Edge. Essentially, this is a browsing failure and a webpage becoming unresponsive.

Before you worry, Microsoft has already started working on a fix for this bug. The company has made statements and said that it will release a patch in an upcoming release for Windows 10, which is quite vague, because we don't know if it means the end of the month or even the day of the next "Patch Tuesday" cycle.

How to fix the error caused by the update in Windows 10?

Essentially, the error occurs every time users try to load a local page, so you need to add the page that is failing to load to the list of trusted sites. To do this, you need to open the Control Panel from the Start Menu or by clicking the word “Control Panel” in the address bar of File Explorer. In the specific security tab, click on the “Trusted Sites” icon and then click on the button that reads Sites. Now, you can see a small screen that will allow you to add new websites to the zone. The first and most important thing that you will need to do is clear the check box next to the option “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone”. Next, you will need to click on the address of a local website that is failing to load in the “Add this website to the zone” field. You should use the IP address of the page, so that it looks something like “10.10.0.1, 192.168.0.1” or as some other pattern that you use on your network. Once you do this, check again “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone”. Do not skip any of the above steps and especially the last one. If you have implemented everything in this way, everything should be fine, so click the OK button and close all windows. Finally, restart the Microsoft Edge browser and then you will see that the page will load without any problems. However, in case you see that something has not worked, restart the system.

After Microsoft releases the fix for the error with a new Windows 10 update, you will be able to follow these steps again and remove the website from the aforementioned list.
