Huawei has started the new year with the launch of the Y9 model in India. The smartphone is available for Rs 15,990.
Construction and design
The build and design of the Huawei Y9 is definitely impressive. It has a large 6.5-inch display, while the glossy finish on the back of the phone gives it a premium look. Additionally, the Huawei Y9 comes in a variety of black and blue colors.
The Huawei Y9 has volume buttons and power button on the right edge and the SIM tray on the left. The phone supports dual micro SIM and a microSD card. On the bottom edge, the phone has a microUSB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and speakers.
On the back, the smartphone has a dual camera, a fingerprint sensor, and enough free space to hold it comfortably.
The phone features a large full-view LCD display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It also has a notch, which houses the dual front camera.
Software and operating system
The Huawei Y9 is powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 710 chipset. While in Malaysia the smartphone was launched with 6GB RAM and a 4GB RAM variant, in India only the latter model was announced. The Y9 comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded up to 400GB via microSD.
The Huawei Y9 comes with Android Oreo out-of-the-box, which features the company's EMUI. Like the Honor 8C and Realme U1, the Huawei Y9 features a dedicated gaming DND mode, which gives you a seamless experience by silencing calls and messages while playing games.
Camera
The smartphone features a quad-camera setup with “dual AI” sensors on the front and back. It features a 13 MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2 MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The secondary sensor is also the depth sensor. On the front, the device also features a dual-camera setup – a 16 MP unit with an f/2.0 aperture and a 2 MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The phone also supports portrait mode on both cameras.
Battery
The battery is another strong feature of the Huawei Y9. The device is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery and comes with a promise of almost 30 hours of battery life.
In conclusion, the Huawei Y9 looks promising, especially for users who love to watch a lot of videos and enjoy playing games on their mobile. Also, the price of Rs 15,000 is extremely competitive which is also a positive for it. It only remains to be seen whether it will be able to beat the competition.
