Maintain your anonymity with this Tor-enabled SIM card

TorIn this day and age, with all the data breach we hear about happening quite often, maintaining privacy online can be a big challenge. Our ISP or VPN provider can practically keep track of our online activity – so what can we do?

Tor is an answer to this problem and helps ensure online privacy and avoid tracking. However, setting up the program can be quite difficult.

So, a UK-based company, Brass Horns Communications, is currently testing a data SIM card that automatically routes all of your data traffic through the Tor network.

It does not require any configuration, as all settings are built into it. However, users will need to create a new access name on their device to connect to the new network.

But the best thing about the Tor-SIM card is that not even Brass Horn can monitor the traffic passing through it.

Brass Horn founder Gareth Llewelyn told Motherboard that what they're aiming for with the card is to offer users a way to avoid having their data tracked by anyone.

As its name suggests, the Brass Horn Onion3G SIM only connects via 3G service. It's still in beta testing and currently only works in the UK. The company plans to make it available to the public by 2019.

The Tor-SIM card will likely cost £2 per month, to be used on a prepaid basis. Each MB of traffic passing through it will cost users £0.025. Customers will be able to top up their account using a credit card or cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Monero or ZCash.
