According to a report by Positive Technologies, the rate of cyber attacks (hacking) has increased by 47% in one year (from Q2 2017 to Q2 2018.)
The information used to draw conclusions in the report is based on the knowledge and expertise of the company's research team, data collected during multiple surveys, and information from reputable sources.
According to the Positive Technologies report, personal data (30%) and credentials (22%) were the most attractive targets for hackers.
Furthermore, despite a decrease in the number of malware- based attacks in Q2 2018 compared to Q1 2018 (49% vs. 63%), they are still the most common.

Additionally, hackers are using increasingly dangerous attack methods against their targets, with credential compromise reaching 19% from 7% and vulnerability exploitation reaching 18% from 12% in the first quarter.
Hackers also used zero-day vulnerability exploits and social engineering to steal login credentials.
What is interesting about the case is that 54% of attacks on private companies and organizations were targeted, which shows that the offenders are not attacking random targets.
"Cyberattacks affected 765 million individual users during the secondquarter of 2018," a Positive Technologies spokesperson said.
