ZOTAC has announced two new PCs, the MEK Ultra and the MEK Mini. The Ultra version will be aimed at users who demand maximum performance and expandability, while the Mini will be aimed at users who prefer compact machines.

In an attempt to appeal to customers looking to buy a factory-built PC with the ability to upgrade in the future, ZOTAC introduced a range of PCs last year. The computers were based on Intel's Kaby Lake quad-core processors and the B250 chipset, but were incompatible with Coffee Lake processors and thus offered rather limited CPU upgrades. However, the idea was probably considered a success, as this year the company is expected to expand its MEK series with these two products.
Zotac MEK Ultra PC: The ZOTAC MEK Ultra PC will be a classic tower based on an ATX motherboard and will feature all the advantages of a modern case: Tempered glass, multiple fans, vertical graphics card installation, RGB lighting, multiple ports for hard drives/SSDs, etc. ZOTAC does not disclose specifications of the MEK Ultra systems, but it is reasonable to assume that it will have high-end equipment. Therefore, expect CPUs with more than four cores (unlocked and overclockable, of course), mid-high graphics cards, plenty of memory, advanced cooling, multiple ports, etc.
Zotac MEK Mini PC: The MEK Mini system will share a different ideology. It will use a custom motherboard and a custom PSU accompanied by a cooling system. Based on its appearance, the MEK Mini PC will be more flexible in terms of upgradeability, compared to the corresponding mini ZBOX MAGNUS, however, its exact capabilities will be seen in the future.
The most advanced version will be equipped with a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Mini graphics card, SSDs/HDDs, Intel Optane Memory 32GB (not all models), but it is not clear whether it will be easy/possible to upgrade the processor. It is very likely that the company will use Intel's six-core processors for the MEK Mini, with or without overclocking.
More news will be revealed at Computex 2018 this week.
