Which company is the first to bring Face ID with 3D scanning to Android?

Apple will remain the only company offering 3D sensor-based Face ID for a few more months as Android phone makers prepare their own response to the technology.

The first Android model with 3D sensing technology is expected to see the light of day in the third quarter of this year, due to insufficient integration capabilities of relevant hardware and software from suppliers of this technology. But which company intends to make the first move?

Certainly not Samsung and Huawei , who do not plan to integrate 3D sensing into their new devices that will feature a facial recognition system. Face ID

Xiaomi is the only company that could integrate 3D sensing into Android with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 7 which will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor.

It seems that Xiaomi is facing the same difficulties as Apple when it started production of the iPhone X and had forced the company to significantly delay the launch of its anniversary model. Xiaomi in turn will also be delayed due to slow adaptation of the relevant software to the device.

On the other hand, Apple is preparing to integrate Face ID with 3D scanning into more of its new devices. Specifically, the 2018 series, which will consist of 3 new models, will offer this technology. In addition to the direct successor to the iPhone X, a Plus version of the anniversary device will be released as well as a more affordable model that will feature a 6.1-inch LCD screen.
