Apple has been considered the first company that could conquer the record of one trillion dollars in the world, but it seems that Microsoft is not giving up so easily, especially if the growth of its cloud activities continues at the same high rate.
Many analysts claim that Microsoft's cloud unit could double in the coming years, leading the company to reach the $1 trillion mark, surpassing Apple and Amazon.
Morgan Stanley even raised its price target for Microsoft shares to $130, meaning the company could soon be worth more than $1 trillion.
Currently, Microsoft's market value is $709 billion, making it the fourth most valuable company in the world, after the leader, Apple, with $854 billion, followed by Amazon with $738 billion, and in third place we find Alphabet with $721 billion.
Analysts are divided on who could reach the $1 trillion market cap first, with recent data suggesting Amazon could do it within the next two years. GBH Insights analyst Dan Ives told clients that Amazon could hit that milestone in the next 12 to 18 months, largely thanks to its cloud strategy.
Let us remind you that until a few months ago, everyone believed that Apple would be the first to break the record thanks to the anniversary iPhone X, but sales of this model are much lower than the company expected. Of course, the new generation iPhone 2018 is coming, which is expected to record high sales, especially thanks to a more affordable device that will be released.
