Microsoft has released a highly requested feature in the latest version of Outlook for iPhone and Android that allows users to view attachments in calendar entries.
While Microsoft briefly mentions in the release notes that “Calendar attachments are now available in Outlook. View embedded images and open attachments directly from event details,” this was one of the most voted requests on the company’s UserVoice feedback platform for the app.
As MSPU notes, requests for this feature began in November 2015 and currently have over 1,500 votes. As Outlook continues to grow on both mobile platforms, more users have requested support for calendar entry attachments.
For now, however, only the iPhone appears to be supported in the Apple ecosystem, as opening calendar attachments in the Outlook app on an iPad is still not possible, according to the user's posts.
Microsoft, on the other hand, will likely introduce more updates on this issue in future releases, so support for calendar attachments should improve with new releases.
Microsoft Outlook is currently one of the leading email clients on both mobile platforms. In the Google Play Store, for example, Outlook has already surpassed the 100 million download milestone and is approaching 500 million installs. It is also a top app with an overall rating of 4.2 and 2.6 million ratings.
Outlook is also extremely successful in App Store , where it has a 4.6-star rating and 365,000 reviews, and is again one of the best email clients available for iOS devices.
