Ubuntu 18.04 will be a “first-class” VM Guest on Microsoft Hyper-V

UbuntuIf you are a Linux enthusiast who loves to try out new Linux and see how they look and work, you must have definitely used some virtualization software. Such tools are even more popular among developers and IT administrators to sandbox processes for better security.

In a blog post (Via: The Register), Microsoft has announced that it is making the Linux virtualization experience better and aims to make it as good as the Windows VM client experience. To achieve this, the company partnered with XRDP to implement Microsoft's open‑source RDP protocol on Linux.

As a result, the company makes Ubuntu 18.04 “first‑class guest” on Microsoft Hyper‑V. It will bring benefits to your experience such as copy‑paste in the Linux VM. A short list of the main features is here:

-Resize window

-Disk drive redirection

-Integrated Clipboard

-Better mouse experience

While this feature is in development and is set to arrive with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, you can find steps to get this feature in 16.04 in the following blog.

Once Ubuntu 18.04 is released, you will be able to find an Ubuntu 18.04 image in the Hyper-V Quick Create Gallery. After that, with just three clicks, you will be able to run an Ubuntu VM on your system.
