Facebook has launched a new version of its Messenger app, one designed for children and called Facebook Messenger Kids.
The Facebook Messenger Kids app is designed specifically for children and comes with a range of parental controls and more.
“Today, in the United States, we’re previewing Messenger Kids, a new app that makes it easier for kids to safely video call and chat with family and friends when they can’t be together in the same place. After reaching out to thousands of parents, organizations like the National PTA, and expert family advisors across the U.S., we saw a need for a messaging app that allows kids to connect with the people they love, but also has the level of control parents want to feel safe.
To give kids and parents a fun and safer solution, we created Messenger Kids, a standalone app that runs on a kid’s tablet or smartphone, but can be controlled from a parent’s Facebook. Whether it’s video chatting to grandparents, catching up with cousins who live far away, or sending Mom a drawing to say hi while she’s working late at the office, Messenger Kids opens up a new world of online family communication. This preview is available on the App Store for iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone.”
