Apple recently unveiled the upcoming Final Cut Pro X 10.4 update of its powerful next-generation video editor for the macOS operating system during the Final Cut Pro X Creative Summit event .
The third version of FCPX (Final Cut Pro X) was presented this weekend welcoming all professional video editors who are interested in this specific field.
From’ what it seems Final Cut Pro X 10.4 brings to the table many new features, starting with support for the new high‑quality video compression standard HEVC (known as H.265 and MPEG‑H Part 2) that Apple included in the latest operating systems iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra 10.13.
The Final Cut Pro X 10.4 update, which will be released later this year, also promises video editors the use of new virtual reality tools to create immersive VR content, which is now fully supported by macOS High Sierra with a suitable VR headset. VR support is implemented through Apple's Motion 5 motion software.
HDR support is another new feature that Apple added to Final Cut Pro X 10.4, allowing users to encode videos and convert them to Rec. You will also encounter a 2020 color container that supports 4K and 8K formats. The update also introduces new white and chromatic balance wheels as well as 360-degree video tools.
Finally, it will support additional LUTs (Look Up Table), along with the ability to load custom LUTs per clip in the Inspector or add them as effects, support for importing iMovie iOS projects, improved color correction tools, clip-forward and clip-backward based roles, and support for an upcoming iMac Pro.
