Microsoft has released the download links for the new October 2017 updates rolled out for the Surface Pro, Surface Pro 3, Surface Laptop, Surface Book, and Surface Studio, which include a number of changes and improvements.
Specifically, the Surface Book gets the Power Slider feature that improves battery life and adaptive brightness, while the Surface Pro 3 gets new Realtek HD Audio and USB 3.0 Card Reader, which extend battery life while in Connected Standby mode.
Additionally, Surface Pro, Laptop, and Studio owners will benefit from a preview of Windows Mixed Reality drivers thanks to updated Intel HD Graphics, Intel Display Audio, NVIDIA GeForce GTX, Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth, and Marvell AVASTAR drivers.
The Surface Pro also gets battery life improvements, the Surface Laptop gets system stability and Surface Dock improvements, as well as a better safe-mode keyboard experience.
If you plan to upgrade your tablet, you can do so automatically either through Microsoft's Windows Update Service or manually by downloading, extracting, and installing all the drivers.
However, although the first method simply requires you to check for updates and wait for them to install automatically, keep in mind that not all devices will receive them at the same time so you may have to wait a while for your device to receive the update.
For the second option, save and run (for .MSI) or extract (for .ZIP) the appropriate package for your Surface found online and follow all on-screen instructions for a complete upgrade.
