Microsoft is preparing a new upgrade for the Office suite on iOS and users registered in the insider program can already try it out.
The upgrade will be included in version 2.6 (17100100) and all changes will be part of the October 2017 update for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint that will be released on iPads and iPhones.
So far there are a few changes to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint but they require an Office 365 subscription.
Initially, all three apps will receive a pen upgrade. “Choose a personal set of pens that will be available in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint across all iOS devices and Windows PCs,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.
Additionally, the update brings new ink effects for Office 365 subscribers, including rainbow, galaxy, lava, ocean, gold, silver, and more. It also brings a digital texture pencil feature that enhances pen support. This change allows for much faster shading, which is very practical for anyone with an iPad.
PowerPoint users have the ability to pick up where they left off, meaning they can work on a presentation and continue working on the same presentation the next time they open the application.
As for Word, there are already previews available on both iPhones and iPads.
Keep in mind that all of these features are still in testing as part of the preview program, but everyone should get them later this month when the update rolls out to iPhones and iPads.
