Apple has revealed the arrival of a new series of emoticons on its devices with the iOS 11.1 update , confirming that developers and public testers will have the opportunity to try them out in the next beta version.![]()
The company says the updated package will include new characters that are part of Unicode 10, while a recent preview shows that in addition to most types of food and animals, gender-neutral characters and emoticons in American Sign Language will be included.
“The new emoji are designed to cover every detail and adapt to characters in Unicode 10. iOS 11.1 also includes characters like the woman in a headscarf, a bearded man, breastfeeding, and a zombie,” Apple explains.
While the full emoji pack will be included in the final release of iOS 11.1, the next beta, 11.1 beta 2, will be released sometime next week, including this new pack. Although it will initially only be available to developers, Apple promises that by the end of the month there will be an official release.
The same emoticons will be available for iPhone and iPad models that update to iOS 11.1, while we will also have the opportunity to enjoy them on macOS and watchOS in upcoming software updates.
Emoticons are a popular feature, and Apple is one of the companies that is committed to providing a new experience. Earlier this year, Apple also announced the launch of Animoji, an interactive version of emoji that is personalized to each user with the help of a 3D photo from the iPhone 8
