Apple released iOS 7.0.1 right after the release of iOS 7 , a bugfix release that is mainly aimed at the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C devices . According to Apple , the update contains general “bug fixes and improvements” for iOS 7. However, according to users who have downloaded and installed the update, it contains patches for a small bug that prevented them from using the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5S to authenticate iTunes purchases , forcing them to use a passcode. Since the iPhone 5C does not have a fingerprint sensor, we can assume that the update also includes other small updates and bug fixes for both devices.

One major security flaw that the update does not fix is the lock screen bypass bug, which allows anyone to bypass the password and access data stored on the device.
The 7.0.1 update is available as a 17MB OTA (over-the-air) update, or via iTunes 11.1 , (1.3GB).
