Classified: The Edward Snowden Story will be the title of the film that is being prepared to describe the life of the man responsible for the NSA. The biographical film will present the story of Snowden's from the moment he joined the US Army.
Filming should begin early next year and its first release is expected in September 2014, if all goes according to plan, via The Pirate Bay.
The film's producer is trying to raise around $1.7 million to finance the project, in an effort to keep it out of Hollywood and thus maintain creative control.
He also says he doesn't want to end up with a film like "The Fifth Estate," which treats WikiLeaks as a scandal and criticized Julian Assange for publishing the Manning documents.
The search for funds for the film does not seem to be going badly as its producer reports that it already has half the amount, but still needs $866,000. Anyone wishing to finance the film can do so via Kickstarter.
Travis Doering from Vancouver, Canada, is the one who had the idea for the project and says he has already contacted Snowden's lawyer and his father Lon Snowden, but has not received a response to date.
He also mentions that he will contact Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras at some point.
The cast includes: Kevin Zegers, from “Mortal Instruments” as Edward Snowden, Michael Shanks, as Glenn Greenwald and Carmen Aguirre, who will play Laura Poitras.
