Pixelbook: Google's answer to Microsoft's Surface

In addition to the Pixel 2 smartphones, Google also introduced the new Pixelbook, which will compete with the Microsoft Surface and Apple MacBook.

Pixelbook

The Google Pixelbook takes design cues from the Pixel phone. It features a glass lid to enhance wireless signal. The 12.3-inch Quad HD display offers stunning quality and has a pixel density of 235 pixels per inch.

Since Google wants its new Pixelbook to be a worthy rival to the Microsoft Surface, one of its key features is the 2-in-1 function, meaning the device is not only a laptop but also a tablet with touch support.

To boost productivity, Google is launching a new Pixel Pen, which is of course the equivalent of the Surface Pen and Apple Pencil. The company claims that its pen is the best on the market with 10ms latency, providing one of the best response times on the market. It is also sold separately for $99.

It will be powered by an Intel Core i5 processor combined with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The device has 2 different USB-C ports for charging, one of which also supports the Pixel smartphone charger.

The new device will also offer a fast charging feature, meaning that within 15 minutes the battery will receive 2 hours of life.

In terms of hardware configurations, Google will offer 512GB SSD storage and 16GB RAM.

The Pixelbook is already available for pre-order but shipments will begin on October 31st.

It remains to be seen how the new Chromebook will compete with the Surface and MacBook…
