Asus has announced that it has started rolling out the Android Nougat update for users of the ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 tablets, allowing them to enjoy Google's latest operating system .
The latest firmware, 14.0210.1706.20, is now available for the ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 (Z500M) bringing some new, neat features and improvements such as the brand new Unicode 9.0 emoji available via the ZenUI keyboard and multi-window support (press and hold Recent Apps to activate)
The Android N update also adds the “Game Genie” app which supports multiple pages in Quick Settings allowing users to swipe left and right to control settings if more than a dozen tabs are open. There is also a notification package which can be accessed via: Settings -> Notification -> Configure Notifications.
When multiple notifications are received for an app, they can be combined into a single group. This group can be expanded to see if you want the notifications separately.
In addition to the aforementioned, Asus ZenPad 3S 10 users also get a lock screen wallpaper slideshow feature that will change the wallpaper every time your device is turned on as well as support for grouping via an app that you can expand to view messages individually.
If you are using Easy mode, please note that with the new update a Launcher application menu will appear on your screen, so make sure you have selected the default launcher after the upgrade.
Don't forget that some things are not compatible with Android N and have been removed. These include the app shortcuts “Audio Wizard,” “System update,” and “Splendid,” the “Tap and hold to show menu” from the settings, and the Touch key which has been replaced by “Tap and hold to activate Multi-window.”
The “PC Suite” (CD-ROM) and the pre-installed Phase Beam, Holo Spiral, Black Hole and Bubbles wallpapers have also been removed as they are not compatible with Android Nougat.
