Samsung's Galaxy J7 (2017) is available today on a number of carriers in the US, but under different identifiers. The smartphone is currently sold as the Galaxy J7 V on Verizon, and will carry the retail name Galaxy J7 Perx on Virgin and Boost Mobile.
Tracfone is also expected to launch the new Galaxy J7 smartphone under the Galaxy J7 Sky Pro moniker, while Sprint is already offering it under the Galaxy J7 Perx name. On the pricing side, the smartphone can be purchased for $265 outright or $11 per month for 24 months, with no down payment.
The Galaxy J7 V is actually cheaper on Verizon Wireless, which sells it for $240 or $10 per month for 24 months. It's also worth noting that the one-time activation fee is $30 on Verizon.
The Galaxy J7 (2017) is clearly a mid-range smartphone that runs Android 7.0 Nougat and features a 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution. The battery capacity should be satisfactory at 3,300mAh, the same as last year's model.
In fact, the screen size is the same as last year's Galaxy J7 (2016), while Samsung had integrated a more recent chipset into this year's model, the Snapdragon 625 processor combined with 2GB of RAM and just 16GB of storage which could be expanded to 256GB.
The rear camera is just 8MP while the selfie snapper on the front has a 5MP sensor, the same as last year's phone. Apart from that, the smartphone lacks NFC connectivity, but should work on Sprint's LTE Plus network. It also has Bluetooth 4.2 and radio support.
