The iPhone 7 Plus is Apple's latest flagship, and it has been a huge hit in the global market since its launch last year. ColorWare, a company that specializes in creating custom-made electronics and skins, is now selling an iPhone 7 Plus with a vintage design. ColorWare calls the new device the iPhone 7 Plus Retro and it's being offered SIM-free and unlocked, with 256GB of internal storage. The phone will be available for a limited time, with orders taking 2-3 weeks to arrive.
That's not the only downside, the iPhone 7 Plus with 256GB of storage is currently selling for $969 in the United States, while the ColorWare Retro variant goes for $1,899. The Retro model has a colorful Apple logo on the back and dark beige striped edges painted over an original black iPhone 7 Plus.
ColorWare said that the first 25 iPhone 7 Plus Retros will include an authenticity number on the back, making the phone even more exclusive. Perhaps in a few years, models with authenticity numbers closer to 1 will sell very well on retail sites like eBay.
The company provided details about the customization process, saying that the iPhone 7 Plus phones will go through an intensive process of disassembly, cleaning, painting, and inspection. The device is then polished and reassembled, then sent to the final testing stage and then packaged.
The iPhone 7 Plus Retro Edition includes EarPods, a USB power adapter, and documentation in the box.
The other features of the phone are the same, a dual-camera 12MP on the back with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. A 7MP front-facing camera, while the phone has a 5.5-inch display, 2,900mAh battery, 3GB of RAM and features a 3.5mm headphone jack.
