Gmail users will soon be able to enjoy a new feature that will allow them to watch videos directly from their emails.
Google is always pushing out new features across its services, and this time it's the company's email service. The latest update allows users to watch videos from within Gmail, using the same streaming infrastructure that YouTube and Google Drive have.
The new feature will only work if you're sending small videos, because as everyone knows, Gmail only allows attachments up to 25MB. So imagine if the video is high quality, 25MB is a very small amount. But larger files are automatically sent to Google Drive anyway, which means they can be transmitted regardless of whether Google Mail supports this feature or not.
The change is obviously aimed at smaller clips, which you want to share with friends and family.
So from today you will no longer need to download the attachment to view it, which can save you even more time.
“Today, we’re rolling out an improvement to Gmail desktop users that makes previewing video attachments in Gmail much smoother and faster. Previously, in order to view a video attachment in Gmail, you had to download it to your computer and open it with a media player. Starting today, when you open an email with a video attachment, you’ll see a thumbnail of the video and have the ability to stream it within Gmail,” blog .
Changes may take up to two weeks to appear in your Inbox.
