Google , 2017. Essentially, it is the commercial version of the Google Custom Search service, also known as Custom Search Engine (CSE).
"On April 1, Google will discontinue sales of Google Site Search. All new purchases and renewals must be completed before the deadline. The service will be completely deactivated on April 1, 2018," a company spokesperson said, hinting that subscriptions will run out before the company closes.
Technically, Site Search will be shut down on April 1, 2018 or when current paid accounts are exhausted. Essentially, whichever comes first. All Site Search customers will be transferred to CSE accounts. Since these are related services that allow Google search on their websites, there will be no major problem for switching users.
Just because the services are similar doesn't mean they're the same. Site Search shows search results from the local area for a single price, while CSE is a free service that makes money by inserting some Google ads among the search results.
CSE has been operating since 2006, while Site Search launched two years later, and its customers pay not per month but per search volume. For example, a package of 20,000 search queries per year will cost someone $100, while a package for 500,000 search queries costs $2,000.
So if you want to make sure there are no Google in your website's search results, buy a package while you still have the chance.
