PewDiePie . just lost his contract with Disney after posting several anti-Semitic videos in recent months
PewDiePie is the highest-paid YouTuber of the year with 53,100,000 subscribers, making him the king of the platform. Each of his videos is watched by millions of YouTube users. He now belongs to YouTube's original network, YouTube Red, as well as the Disney Studios brand. Felix Kjellberg, which is his real name, managed to lose the last contract, however, as his last nine videos had anti-Semitic and Nazi messages.
Specifically, his last three videos have been removed from the platform as in one he appears holding a sign that says “Death to All Jews,” while in the other he claimed that Hitler did nothing wrong.
In his defense, Kjellberg said he did nothing wrong but that this was a way to prove that people will do anything for a little money. He claims that he used a job search site where he asked people to post these offensive messages in exchange for money, and they accepted.
He continued by saying that he does not support any of these behaviors and perceptions, while admitting that the jokes may have been offensive. However, his platform is not known for serious political commentary.
MakerStudios, owned by Disney, decided to end its relationship with the famous YouTuber regardless of his statements as the videos contained highly inappropriate content.
YouTube, for its part, has not removed any of the videos but has blocked ads on only one of them.
