The fight against online piracy is close to reaching a new level, Google as well as other search companies are very close to achieving a voluntary agreement with entertainment companies. What is the meaning of all this? By making these links with content that violates copyright, they will disappear from search results.
According to a report from TorrentFreak, multiple discussions were held with the help of the British Office of Property. After these meetings all parties agreed that the new code will come into effect on June 1, 2017.
What does this mean for you, the regular search engine user? It means that when you search for a torrent link of a movie or anything else, you will not get anything valid back.
It's been years since the entertainment industry accused Google, Yahoo, Bing , and the rest of them of doing next to nothing to prevent piracy on the Internet. This works on the assumption that of course users actually search Google for the torrent they need, rather than going to sites they know and trust and just downloading everything from there.
Regardless of the logic of the situation, entertainment companies like Hollywood have mostly pushed Google to do more to eliminate the copyright-free links that are freely circulating on the Internet. Google, for its part, has already done several things to help the industry, such as removing the links from search results or demoting them in rankings for certain keywords. One thing it has refused to do is remove the entire site from search results, given that there may be legal content available for download.
