After 5 days of voting, we can publish the results for the best Linux distribution that emerged from our referendum, as it seems that no surprises with reversals are expected.
Before publishing the results, we should mention that what you will see below is not representative of what is prevalent in the market. For example, let's mention the Kali Linux distribution, which is a very specialized distribution and is not used by the majority.
This particular distribution ranks 29th in DisrtoWatch, while in the SecNews.gr referendum, the same distribution had its honorable mention, ranking third due to the profile of the website's visitors.
Nevertheless, Ubuntu (unfortunately because there are much more noteworthy distributions) takes first place (in DisrtoWatch it comes third), followed without surprises by Mint (first in DisrtoWatch) and followed by Debian, Manjaro, openSUSE, CentOS and Fedora as you will see in the images below.
In the poll, we noticed something that was expected. Notable distributions like Debian, Manjaro, openSUSE, CentOS, and Fedora do not rank well due to the fact that they are not that easy for the general public to use.
This is not so much the case with Manjaro or openSUSE as I believe that even novice users can try them without encountering any particular problems.
Let us recall that the poll included the first 15 distributions from the DistroWatch Page Hit Ranking list with two exceptions.
We added MX Linux, a (Greek) distribution that we distinguish, in 14th and 15th place, and the well-known Kali Linux distribution, while it was not in 14th and 15th place on DistroWatch.
Those who couldn't find the distribution they preferred had the option Other. Of course, as you'll notice, there was a Windows fanatic who lost his way, but also someone who thought it would be good to clarify why yes and why not Ubuntu.
