HTC Ocean Note will be launched without a 3.5mm audio jack

HTC has already confirmed a keynote for January 12th, right after the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 trade show, which is expected to end on January 8th.

Although the Taiwanese company did not reveal details about the device(s) that will be announced next month, sources familiar with HTC's plans claim that the mobile manufacturer will introduce not one, but three new smartphones.

Following the January 12th announcement, HTC plans to revamp its smartphone lineup under a new banner called “Ocean.” The three Ocean smartphones will span all price ranges, but will share many common features.

One of the smartphones to be unveiled on January 12, the HTC Ocean Note is expected to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack in favor of a USB Type-C port. The move shouldn't come as a surprise, however, as this isn't the first HTC smartphone to not feature a 3.5mm audio jack.

The HTC Bolt launched last month was the company's first phone to be offered without the audio jack, but the mistake was that the Taiwanese company did not include an adapter in the sales package and had to suggest that customers register on its website if they wanted one for free after purchasing the phone.

The Ocean Note will come with the same audio technology included in the HTC Bolt which automatically adjusts sound settings based on ambient noise.

The HTC Ocean Note will be available for purchase in three colors: black, blue, and white. Unfortunately, rumors are circulating that the phone will be powered by a MediaTek chipset, a rather cheap option for a high-performance device like this.

While the phone will be officially unveiled on January 12, sales are expected to start on January 28, but only in China.
