YouTube Rewind 2016 Top 10: what Greeks watched

YouTube Rewind 2016: With over a billion internet users worldwide, it's worth noting that a third of them watch videos, which they search for on YouTube. This is a habit that the younger generation loves very much, having grown up watching whatever videos they want, whenever they want, and on whatever device they want.

The same applies in Greece where, through the YouTube application, either on mobile or tablet, music and all the platform's content are at our fingertips wherever we go!

According to recent data from the statistical company TNS, it is confirmed that 82% of Greek Internet users visit YouTube at least once a month.

YouTube's reach is growing across all age groups. Specifically, each week the platform is visited by:

• 94% of users aged 15 – 24
• 89% of users aged 25 – 34
• 80% of users aged 35 – 44
• 65% of users aged 45 – 54
• 47% of users over the age of 55

It is noteworthy that 30% of internet users aged 25-44 say they watch YouTube more often than they watch TV. It also seems that users easily turn YouTube into radio: they have fun with it simply by listening to or watching videos of new hits to stay fully informed about musical developments.

So what are the most popular videos of 2016, according to the time users spent watching them, the number of shares, comments, likes and more? What did Greeks watch the most this year?

According to the lists of songs that stood out this year, the Greeks loved the song by Konstantinos Nazis ft Knock Out the most: “When I hurt, I celebrate”. Next in the ranking is the favorite song by the unforgettable Pantelis Pantelidis: “I remember” but we will find another song of his in the top^ten , while in 3rd^place we find “Measure Reversed” by Konstantinos Koufos. However, the top 10 music videos show the tendency of Greeks to support the domestic music industry a lot, but to also love foreign hits, with the list ultimately divided into domestic and foreign hits.
