BackBox Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution used for security assessments and penetration testing. The project has just released a new stable version, BackBox Linux 4.7. The new version upgrades key components of the distribution and fixes many bugs.
“The BackBox team is pleased to announce the updated BackBox Linux 4.7. We thought of releasing a new minor release to give our users the opportunity to have a stable updated system until the next official major release, namely BackBox 5 which is still under development.
In this release we fixed some minor bugs, the kernel, the core system and some tools.”
ISO images for 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are at the end of the post.
What's new:
New Linux kernel 4.4, and updated hacking tools Metasploit, OpenVAS, SE Toolkit, sqlmap, WPScan.
Anyone using older versions (BackBox 4.x) can upgrade to the latest version instead of performing a new installation.
More details can be found in the official announcement of the new version.
