Google has just released its new “Trusted Contacts” app that makes sure you’re always in touch with your loved ones. Now you don’t have to send messages to find out where your loved ones are as the new app does it for you in an easy way.
Specifically, once you install the application, you can define some contacts as “Trusted” who can do the same as well. Now you have the ability to share your location as well as request it from the other person when you want to know where they are. The other contact has the same ability, of course. You are given five minutes to confirm or deny the request and after that the application is automatically updated. Its goal is to let your loved ones know your location in case you are unable to do so. An additional feature of “Trusted Contacts” is real-time updates. In other words, by simply clicking on the Google map, you can locate the exact movements of your contact at any given moment. For security reasons, notifications do not appear on the home screen of your mobile phone but remain hidden in the application.
However, applications such as “Trusted Contacts” can be dangerous for the protection of everyone’s privacy. There will be many cases of abusive spouses who will monitor the movements of their loved ones at all times, as well as parents who will control the lives of their children. It is therefore necessary to know the limits of use of this new application.
