Before we answer the question in the title and before we see the test results carried out on SecNews.gr, we will make an introduction:
Let's talk about speed. One of the main reasons why a site should be fast is to utilize the end user's time, which they can use much better and as they wish instead of sitting around waiting for a page to open.
Content on a site that is "crawled" seems to not perform even if it is very valuable, and this is because it does not respect the time of a visitor who is trying to use their free time to read something interesting, send a message, and generally do something rather than wait with the clock until a page decides to open.
This of course defeats the purpose of any website, something that Google knows very well. A page that takes hours to load is at a disadvantage in its ranking in Google's search results. The company believes (quite rightly) that a site that takes more than four seconds to load should immediately fix its times to see better rankings in search results.
From theory to practice
Here at SecNews.gr and after merging with iGuRu, we set certain standards in the operation of the site with the aim of its rise in Google's rankings, and by extension the best end-user experience.
Without compromising on content quality, we decided to focus on improving page loading times.
Today, when we believe that we have achieved very good results, we decided to announce to you the point we have reached, without this meaning that efforts to improve will stop.
As you will see from the numbers below, there is room for further improvement.
Speed Tests
We tested the loading time in GTMetrix:

in Webpagetest

on pingdom

Google PageSpeed

And Pagespeed for mobile results

Challenge
After presenting the above results, we have serious reasons to believe that SecNews.gr is currently the fastest site in Greece.
Of course, you shouldn't compare it to simple html websites, but to sites of its kind, regardless of the platform they use (CMS or content management system), WordPress, Joomla, or anything else out there.
Can you find any Greek website that is faster than SecNews.gr?
- The results above may change depending on the bytes of new content that our editors publish. The differences will be minimal and do not affect the site's ranking that much, since in multiple aggregate tests, the average counts.
