Just when people started claiming that with the arrival of 4K screens, there wouldn't be any other major advancements in the television sector, big players like Samsung, Panasonic, and LG began experimenting with groundbreaking technologies like foldable and transparent screens!
Earlier this year at CES, Panasonic showed off its futuristic TV that turns into transparent glass when turned off. Samsung also showed off a similar technology at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Last week, the company showed off an improved version of its earlier invisible TVs at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies in Japan.
Panasonic engineers have worked hard to make sure the newest screen looks as good as most TVs on the market. While the previous screen was LED, the new screen has been upgraded to OLED. This will let you see clearer and brighter images even against a bright background.
This display is made of a thin mesh embedded in a glass panel. You can even slide the panel, just like a sliding panel. OLED displays have a thin layer of plastic between two electrodes on top of a glass plate. So when there is no electrical signal, the display appears transparent.
This futuristic technology is the latest in sci-fi technology that has become a reality. Similar transparent screens have been featured in films like The Avengers and Minority Report.
According to company representatives, consumers will have to wait another 3 years before they will be able to purchase this invisible TV.
