Samsung today introduced its new SmartWatch, the Gear S3, in Berlin. The SmartWatch comes with advanced features although the company does not seem to have focused on innovation, but more on improving the older Gear S2 version.
Specifically, the Gear S3 has a similar size to the Gear S2, (46mm case and a 1.3-inch display, instead of the 44mm and 1.2-inch display that the Gear S2 had). The display has a resolution of 360x360px.
The smartwatch comes in two design options, the Frontier for more active users, and the classic model. The Gear S3 Classic comes with a stainless steel and silver look, while the Frontier has a black matte finish.
The Frontier comes with a somewhat military look and is more resistant to impacts since its screen is protected with Gorilla Glass SR +.
The Gear S 3 Frontier is 46x49x12.9 mm and weighs 62 grams, while the Gear S 3 Classic is 46x49x12.9 mm, and weighs 57 grams.
The smartphones come with rotating display details that allow users to answer calls more easily, run on Tizen, and there are currently 10,000 apps available for the Gear S3. The smartwatch is powered by a 1.0GHz dual-core Exynos 7270 processor, has 4GB of storage, and 768MB of RAM.
As expected, the Gear S3 features a variety of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and heart rate sensors. The smartwatch comes with wireless charging and its battery is expected to last between three and four days, which is quite impressive.
The Gear S3 features NFC and MFT, which allows users to make payments at credit card terminals. The Gear S3 is waterproof, with an IP68 rating, but it is not recommended for swimming or diving.
It can connect to WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and also has a standalone LTE connection. It has a built-in speaker and microphone.
