If you have downloaded and installed the latest version of Linux Mint 18 Sarah in Cinnamon or MATE, and are looking for other versions, this post is for you.
The KDE and Xfce editions of Linux Mint 18, according to project lead Clement Lefebvre, will be a top priority for the month of July, now that development of Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon and MATE has finished.
It also appears that the Linux Mint team is working to finalize the ability to upgrade from Linux Mint 17.3 to the new Linux Mint 18 operating system.
Clement Lefebvre promised that the upgrade from Linux Mint 17.3 will also be released in July.
"The Cinnamon and MATE editions of Linux Mint will be announced this week. They successfully passed QA (quality control) yesterday," said Clement Lefebvre.
“In July, we should focus on the upgrade path from Linux Mint 17.3, as well as the Xfce and Plasma desktops. We will have more news after the release.”
In the same announcement, the Linux Mint manager reveals that he and his team have gathered new ideas for the popular operating system used by hundreds of thousands of users around the world, and that we will see them in the next version, Linux Mint 18.1, which will be released later this year.
