New Linux Lite 3.0: Linux Lite is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu and created by a team of developers led by Jerry Bezencon.
The purpose of Linux Lite is to bring Windows users to Linux, and provide them with a comfortable and useful experience. It is designed to be simple and suitable for new Linux users who want a lightweight, highly responsive, and fully functional environment.
The operating system has several enhancements for the new user that aim to familiarize them with the operating system: a welcome center, a help file on the desktop, a control center where you can easily find most settings, a menu similar to the classic Windows “Start” menu, which can be accessed via the “Windows” keyboard key or the mouse, and much, much more.
The pre-installed software available in Linux Lite is: LibreOffice Suite, Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, the lightweight AbiWord, Gimp, a system backup utility, VLC and more.
The installer is about 800MB, and requires a DVD or USB stick.
The minimum hardware requirements are: a 700 MHz processor, 512MB RAM, and a 1024×768 VGA resolution display, although a higher processor and RAM are recommended.
