Since June 2015, Microsoft has been sending millions of computers running Windows 7 and 8.1 an app that prompts you and is supposed to make the transition to Windows 10 as smooth as possible.
The "Download Windows 10" app icon quickly became very annoying for users who just wanted to stay on their operating system, since it couldn't be easily and simply deleted without a hack, like any app that runs under Windows.
But it looks like we're going to be done with the Microsoft , as the company just announced that it will be removing the "Get Windows 10" app from Windows 7 and 8.1 on July 29th, as the free upgrade will no longer be available after that date. After July 29th, Windows 7 or 8.1 operating systems will no longer be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free, and the app will no longer serve any purpose.
“Details are not yet finalized, but on July 29, the Get Windows 10 app that facilitates the easy upgrade to Windows 10 will be disabled and eventually removed from computers around the world. Just as it took some time for everyone to get this app, it will take a similar amount of time to remove it,” spokesperson told WinBeta.
Since the free upgrade will no longer be available, the only way for anyone running Windows 7 or 8.1 to get Windows 10 after July 29th will be to purchase a license for the new operating system. The Home edition will be priced the same as Windows 8.1, so it will cost €110.
Microsoft seems to be holding the watermelon and the knife and that is why it is pressuring the market with its decisions. If you decide to stay with the Windows you are running now, the above news may sound pleasant to your ears. However, if you are thinking about giving Windows 10 a chance, you can upgrade for free and if you are not happy, you can go back to your old Windows within 30 days.
