Just a few weeks ago, Facebook's other messaging app, WhatsApp, announced the availability of end-to-end encryption by default for its users.
Facebook's other major communication app, Messenger, appears to be preparing an upgrade that could attract privacy-conscious users.
(Although this is probably the goal of the application, we find it difficult to believe that there are users who are interested in protecting their privacy and use any Facebook platform).

The Twitter account @iOSAppChanges today posted some screenshots of "disappearing messages" as a feature being used in the Messenger app for iOS.
In the version of the application shown in the images, it is possible to set the time your messages will be visible in conversations with other users.

“Disappearing messages will be turned on. New messages will disappear from this conversation 15 minutes after being sent,” the Messenger chat window says, apparently after enabling the option.
The move is not surprising. It is a response to the popularity of messaging app Telegram, which now has more than 100 million monthly active users and offers the feature of disappearing messages. (The same goes for Snapchat.)
