Will MIT students make Elon Musk's idea a reality? If you don't remember the Hyperloop, let us remind you that it is a very ambitious plan by Elon Musk, like all of his well-known plans.
It involves a fast "train" that will move in a "tube" and reach speeds of 800 miles per hour. 
Although he's pretty busy launching rockets right now, Musk appeared at Texas A&M University for a 30-minute Q&A session with an audience of 100 teams aspiring to design the super train.
The MIT team, along with 21 others, will have the opportunity to test their designs on a mile-long test track that Musk's SpaceX will build next to its facilities in California.
Musk first announced plans to build a five-mile test track in Texas. It looks like his company, SpaceX, will build two short- and long-range test tracks in different locations.
The idea for the tube train was first mentioned in 2013, with a demanding budget of $10 billion. It would be powered by solar energy, and would reach speeds of nearly 800 MPH (miles per hour).
That means it will be about 300 MPH faster than a typical passenger plane.
Musk had stated that he would not be involved in the Hyperloop project, but that he was willing to support anyone who wished to undertake it.
However, the idea of involving teams from various universities in the country is very smart and we believe that it will bring results. At least in terms of planning.
