Yesterday, Google acquired the newly formed media editing company Fly Labs and will integrate it into the Google Photos team.
Fly Labs enabled users to edit videos and photos and was a huge success, with 3 million downloads in the last 18 months. More than 20 million videos have been created with the apps built by FlyLabs.
Its suite of apps ( Tempo , Fly and Crop ) will be available for free starting today for the next three months, but there will be no further updates. After three months, the apps will continue to work, but will no longer be available for download from the App Store.
Google's move is an interesting one, especially since FlyLabs had focused primarily on photo editing and video editing tools for iOS. But it will still be interesting to see how the company integrates its expertise with the already great Google Photos service.
