The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate filed a criminal case against (2) individuals, within the framework of an investigation into a criminal case involving repeated rape and violation of personal data.
The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate investigated a case of repeated rape and violation of personal data and a regular procedure file was filed against a 26-year-old Greek national and another Greek national, a user of a social networking website, whose details are being investigated.
Specifically, the investigation into the case began after a complaint was filed by a 26-year-old Greek woman at the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, for repeated rape, under the threat of publishing her personal photographs on the internet, which had fallen into the possession of one of the above perpetrators.
According to the complaint, the 26-year-old woman was chatting via messages on a social networking site about two years ago with an unknown internet user, who convinced her to send him personal photos of herself via another online communication site. After a short period of time, the aforementioned person deactivated the profiles he maintained on both sites.
The 26-year-old then contacted the complainant via a social networking site, informed her that he possessed the aforementioned photos and forced her to have intercourse with him, threatening that otherwise he would share the photos with her relatives. The victim gave in to the threats of the above perpetrator and was forced into continued intercourse, with the 26-year-old and with the second -unknown- Greek national.
The allegations were brought to the attention of the competent Prosecutor's Office and a preliminary examination was ordered, within the framework of which a thorough police and digital - online investigation of the facts and data of the case was carried out. As a result, the 26-year-old was identified and his home was located.
In the morning hours of 22-10-2015, a legal search was conducted at the 26-year-old's home and he was identified as the person who had carried out the above actions.
During the investigations, two (2) laptop computers and an external computer hard drive were found and seized.
The digital evidence seized will be sent to the Criminal Investigations Directorate for appropriate laboratory tests.
The regular procedure file that was formed will be submitted to the competent Prosecutor. The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate continues its investigations to identify and discover the identity of the other citizen.
