A 21-year-old Greek national was arrested by the Northern Greece Cybercrime Prosecution Sub-Directorate, accused of violating the legislation on personal data, threats, insults and defamation via the Internet.

A 21-year-old Greek national was arrested the day before yesterday (20-9-2015) by the Northern Greece Cybercrime Sub-Directorate, with the assistance of police officers from the relevant Security Department, and is accused of violating the legislation on personal data, as well as of threatening, insulting and defaming.
This was preceded by a complaint from a 19-year-old Greek national, according to which the 21-year-old threatened her that he would publish personal photos of her, which he had in his possession, on the Internet.
In fact, the 19-year-old was informed of the existence of a fake profile on a social media website, which bore her name and where the aforementioned photos had been posted. From this profile, friend requests were sent to her relatives and loved ones, in a way that they became recipients of the posted photos.
Subsequently, the 21-year-old was arrested and a lawful search was conducted at his home, during which portable data storage devices, memory cards, a laptop computer and a mobile phone, along with the SIM card, were found and seized.
The seized items will be sent to the Laboratory Department of the Forensic Investigations Sub-Directorate of Northern Greece (Y.EE.BE) for further laboratory examination.
The arrested person, with the criminal case filed against him, was taken to the competent Prosecutor.
