Zerodium Offers $1 M in iOS 9 Bug Bounty – Startup Zerodium is challenging security researchers with the largest bug bounty ever: $1 million for a browser-based jailbreak against iOS 9.

Bugs are valuable, especially when they can be linked together to create an exploit. Today, Zerodium is offering the highest bug bounty ever announced: a $1 million reward for a browser-based jailbreak against Apple's new iOS 9 mobile operating system .
Zerodium is not only offering a reward, but is willing to pay a total of $3M as part of its iOS 9 bug bounty. The offer, however, has a time limit, and researchers must submit their research by 6:00 PM on Halloween (October 31).
To give you a taste of Zerodium's iOS 9 bug bounty from a monetary perspective, according to bug-bounty platform provider Bugcrowd, the average bug-bounty payout is just $200. Hewlett-Packard's Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) paid out a total of $557,500 in a Pwn2Own contest in March, but that was a two-day contest that targeted flaws in Google Chrome, Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, and Mozilla Firefox.
The largest single payout at Pwn2Own 2015 was $110,000 for Google Chrome vulnerabilities, discovered by security researcher Junghoon Lee, also known as lokihardt.
