Kaspersky Small Office Security , Kaspersky Lab 's security solution for small businesses, has been recognized as one of the most reliable products in its category in tests conducted by independent organizations Dennis Technology Labs , AV - Test and Virus Bulletin .
In a recent test by Dennis Technology Labs, the results of which were published in early August, Kaspersky Small Office Security received the highest possible score and received an “AAA” certificate.
During the test, experts not only checked each product's response to harmless or malicious programs and websites, but also calculated an overall accuracy score.
This rating consists of two parts — an assessment of the level of protection and an assessment of the behavior of security solutions towards legitimate software. The first part is based on how each solution deals with threats (e.g. whether it neutralizes them, eliminates the effects of infections, or prevents them altogether). The second is based on which harmless objects are detected as threats.
In this second part, if a solution blocks a popular program, a significant penalty of points is incurred, which is even higher than if a legitimate but rarely used application were blocked. Kaspersky Small Office Security did not cause any false positives, and blocked all infection attempts. Thus, it was the only solution that managed to reach the highest possible overall accuracy rating of 1016 points.
The results for Kaspersky Small Office Security were equally impressive in the AV-Test test. According to a report published in the last week of July, the solution not only received the “Approved Corporate Endpoint Protection” certification, but was also one of only two products to receive a score of 18 out of 18.
The testing methodology used by AV-Test evaluates security products based on three criteria: usability, performance, and protection. In AV-Test's tests, usability means the absence of false positives.
Since Kaspersky Small Office Security did not cause any such effects, it was rated 6 out of 6. The product received the same rating for the level of protection, which was tested using two sample threat types (a group of zero-day threats and a group of widespread malware) discovered over the past 4 weeks. Kaspersky Lab's solution also received the highest possible rating in the performance category, as it did not show any noticeable impact on system performance.
Kaspersky Small Office Security also received another important distinction at the end of July. This is the VB100 rating (April 2015 edition), which was given to the company as part of a security benchmark test conducted by Virus Bulletin. During the test, Kaspersky Small Office Security successfully detected 100% of modern threats in both on-demand and on-access scans. The solution did not produce any false positives and achieved top stability performance, meaning that no issues were detected during the test.
It is also worth noting that AV-Comparatives published a separate report on Kaspersky Small Office Security, which was published in early July. The review includes a detailed analysis of the functionality of the latest version of the solution. The researchers paid special attention to the convenience and ease of management of the product via a cloud-based console.
“laboratoriesfrom various countries are almost unanimous in their assessment of the latest version of Kaspersky Small Office Security. Especially for products designed for small businesses, unanimity of opinion is particularly important, because small businesses, which often do not have IT staff in-house, tend to rely on a wide range of ratings when choosing a product to protect their infrastructure,” comments Timur Biyachuev, Director of Anti-Malware research at Kaspersky Lab.
Kaspersky Small Office Security is a specialized solution designed to protect the IT infrastructure of small businesses. It has features that can protect Windows devices (both servers and workstations), as well as OS X and Android devices.
Its new cloud-based console can be used to remotely protect the entire IT infrastructure. Finally, the solution is designed to allow even non-IT professionals to effectively control their company's online security system.
