Selfies can be very dangerous, especially if your country is in a war zone. Unless you are an active combatant, taking selfies and posting them on social media is stupid.
This is exactly what an ISIS soldier did, revealing his location on Twitter.
ISIS has several active social media accounts to advertise their "work" and also to recruit new members.
Of course, this information is visible to everyone, especially to US intelligence agencies, which do nothing else (as the saying goes) than analyze the data they collect, looking for leaks.
Selfies are a first-class source of information and it seems the US did not let the opportunity go to waste, since this particular selfie posted on Twitter revealed the location of the ISIS base.
After the tweet, in less than 22 hours, the US, with an airstrike, completely destroyed the building from which it had been sent.
“A social media post and the bombs found their target in less than 24 hours,” said US Air Force General Hawk Carlisle.
