Very good news for Windows Phone fans waiting to upgrade to Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview, as the company has confirmed that the next build will be able to upgrade from all Windows Phones running version 8.1.
It is known that Windows 10 for Phones is not compatible with all Lumia smartphones, and some users simply cannot upgrade to this version unless they use an app to reflash their phones.
The current version of Windows 10 for Phones does not support the upgrade on some devices running Windows Phone 8.1.
For example, those with smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 on builds 8.10.14226.359 or 8.10.14234.375 cannot upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 for Phones unless they use a Windows recovery tool to reflash the device to a lower build.
However, from the next build of Windows 10 for Phones, anyone with a compatible Lumia smartphone, regardless of which version of Windows Phone 8.1 they are running, will be able to upgrade without having to reflash their device.
The information has been recently confirmed by Gabriel Aul, who said that the next build of Windows 10 for Phones will bring support for more Lumia smartphones, in addition to the Lumia 930.
