IKB: Smart keyboard that cleans itself and recognizes the user

IKB: Perhaps the only thing it doesn't do is type the user's texts instead of them: the reason for the "smart" keyboard developed by researchers, which is self-cleaning, self-powered and can "recognize" the user from the way they type.

As reported in a PhysOrg article, the device, presented at ACS Nano, could prevent unauthorized users from gaining direct access to computers.

Professor Zhong Lin Wang (Georgia Tech) and his colleagues point out that password protection is perhaps the most common way for someone to control who has access to their computer. However, as evidenced by the cyberattacks and hacking cases that are now regularly coming to light, passwords themselves are now vulnerable, so the goal is to find a secure, cost-effective and user-friendly way to protect one's computer.

Researchers have developed a "smart" keyboard that can "understand" typing patterns, including keystrokes and speed, distinguishing one user from another. Even if someone knows the password, they cannot gain access to the computer, as they type differently. The keyboard also collects the energy generated by typing to power itself or another small device. At the same time, its special coating repels dust and dirt in general.

As stated in the research abstract, the "smart keyboard" (IKB – Intelligent Keyboard) can potentially be used not only in energy-powered electronic devices and in the field of cybersecurity and device security, but also in fields such as Artificial Intelligence.
