Talos Principle pirates trap players in the elevator

Game developer Croteam is best known for Serious Sam 3, but their latest game, The Talos Principle, is likely to become even more popular. Those who have played Serious Sam 3 may know that the developers used tricks that prevented players from finishing the game if they used a pirated copy. The Talos Principle

A scorpion that was impossible to “kill” appeared at some point in the game, and followed the players forever. Of course there was no way to get rid of it, unless they bought a genuine copy of the game.

On to the Talos Principle, now. Perhaps few know that the Talos Principle has a similar trick, which prevents those who play pirated copies from completing the game.

This is not a surprise from the Crotem developers, and the joke is that some players consider the anti-imperial measure to actually be a bug in the game that the developers should fix.

What is the bug? Those using pirated versions of The Talos Principle find themselves trapped in an elevator and unable to get out. One of these players recently posted on Steam that he can't progress through the game because he's trapped inside an elevator:

“When I unlocked the tower on the 2nd floor, all the elevators stopped working. Every time I take someone, it stops exactly in the middle of the route and I can't do anything. Is there anyone who has the same problem? What should I do?”

Obviously, it took more than two weeks for them to discover that Croteam was punishing players who used pirated versions of the game.

The joke is that a QR code near the elevator contains some tips for the pirated copies of the game, but if the mouse lands on it, otherwise it would be impossible to say why you got trapped inside the elevator.

If you haven't bought Talos Principle, don't be surprised if you find yourself locked in the elevator.
