As with any major space mission, conspiracy theorists are always ready to fabricate their own stories. Government space agencies lie to us, and of course, ESA's recent successful Philae is no exception. We've heard and read about many conspiracies, but this one could be a book.
As The Guardian revealed earlier this week, conspiracy theorists have been busy trying to uncover the “truth” behind the Rosetta mission. None of them are convinced that it was a simple mission aimed at finding answers about how life on Earth began. In an email they began sending in September (you can see the content on UFOSightingsDaily), they claim to have “confidential” information from the ESA that “comet 67P is NOT a comet.” It is a spacecraft, and the Philae lander that landed is our first handshake with extraterrestrials.

About 20 years ago, NASA “heard” explosions from space. It was later discovered that these explosions had likely come from the direction where comet 67P now exists. As technology advanced, it was confirmed that these signals came directly from the comet, and that the comet seemed to be able to change its orbit at will, something that is impossible for a rock.
So NASA decided to plan a mission to send a military reconnaissance vehicle to the unknown object, in the hope of discovering its true nature. Due to the nature of the mission and the secrecy, the American space agency made a deal with European government insiders. So ESA publicly took on the mission as a simple search for one of the millions of comets in space. It was the perfect cover that allowed governments to carry out the mission without having to hide it.
